JANSSEN Cosmeceutical Care's answer to free radical damage! In times of an increasing ozone hole and environmental pollution it is necessary to provide suitable protection against special effects of the sun and thus protecting the skin against irreparable damage. The sun does not only have invigorative effects on the human organism, but may also turn out dangerous for the skin. Extensive sunbathing leads to painful, ugly sunburn and even worse to irreversible skin defects. Today, the results of extreme exposure to sunlight are the main topic of scientific discussions: Everything from accelerated aging of the skin up to skin cancer is being addressed.
Previous sun cosmetics were confined to protect the skin against negative effects of ultraviolet sunrays by protection factors, which are too low for today's exposure rates. According to the latest developments in research, a mere passive filtration efficiency is no longer sufficient. Once the cutaneous cells are injured, this will be passed on at every cell division, which will lead to the known late effects: wrinkles, leather-like skin, skin cancer.
In cosmeceutical terms it makes more sense to stimulate the regeneration mechanism existing in each cell - including in the cutaneous cell. In doing so, this would reverse defects induced by rays before it comes to irreversible skin defects.
